was strong in betting back in a handicap, with plenty in his favour, and improved a bit more to follow up from last time; dictated, effort 2f out, forged clear; should remain competitive, though it's fair to say this was a good opening, life sure to be tougher in handicaps with other improving 3-y-os in them.

didn't look straightforward when winning last time and again hinted at quirks here, albeit running creditably on form; mid-division, went in snatches, driven 3f out, not quicken, kept on final 1f, no match for winner; a well-run race in a bigger field might see her to better effect, and she's probably still on a fair mark.

wasn't disgraced back in a handicap, though didn't really see things out over this still longer trip; in touch, took keen hold, effort 2f out, faded final 1f.

was below form, the race not run to suit but failing to travel like he does on a good day; held up, ridden 4f out, made no impression.

A useful effort from the all-the-way winner, but he didn't have much to beat as it turned out, a strung-out finish indicative of others not being on their game in a steadily-run race.
