ran respectably upped in grade but wasn't really seen to bst effect, ridden more conservatively than usual in a bid to preserve his stamina; in touch, not settle fully until halfway, pushed along 3f out, switched right inside final 1f, stayed on.

failed to justify support but shaped as if still in good form for much of the way, his stamina seemingly stretched at this distance on soft ground; tracked pace, took strong hold, upsides 3f out, pushed along over 2f out, lost second near line: type to bounce back quickly.

back on turf, ran no better than on last month's return, looking a little ungainly, though ground this soft was unfamiliar to him; in touch, pushed along 3f out, wandered approaching final 1f, weakened close home.

A small-field affair, the winner setting no more than a modest gallop and never headed, relishing conditions and seeing things out more thoroughly than the favourite.

KAPSTADT (FR) was turned out again quickly just 4 days after Haydock and resumed winning ways, given a well-judged front-running ride by Franny Norton; made running, joined 3f out, shaken up over 2f out, drew clear approaching final 1f, won readily.

OPTIMA PETAMUS back on turf, ran no better than on last month's return, looking a little ungainly, though ground this soft was unfamiliar to him; in touch, pushed along 3f out, wandered approaching final 1f, weakened close home.
