from day one has looked Champion 2-y-o material, mindful from the outset of his outstanding credentials on pedigree, and he completed the perfect season with the best Dewhurst performance since the legendary Frankel in 2010, beating a strong field with authority despite things not going as smoothly as they might have through the race, taking a keen hold early as Dettori sought cover, and then when switched out entering the Dip he briefly looked in trouble, feeling the whip and edging left, perhaps just a sign of immaturity, also getting accustomed to the undulations, on ground that was firmer than he'd encountered before, but after that brief moment of vulnerability - underlined by an in-running price on Betfair that hit a high of 8.0 - he flew through the final 1f to take up the running and forge clear impressively; his rating sits in advance of the standard required to win a typical 2000 Guineas, so even in a stellar crop, he sets the bar very high, and there's an expectation that his form will continue to accelerate, especially back at 1m next spring, no quibbling with his position as clear favourite for 2019's first classic, but there'd be more doubt as to whether beyond that he'll develop into a Derby horse, admittedly from a family of middle-distance performers but clearly a fast colt, not the biggest either, and he's already breaking the family mould by showing such speed and precocity; whatever his optimum trip proves to be, though, he has vast talent and is a fantastically exciting prospect.

had been rather overlooked in the build up despite already having a Group 1 in the bag, testament to the strength of the race, but close to the off there was money for him and he improved his form further 8 weeks on from the Phoenix, unfortunate to be around in such a stellar year as his rating is as good as some Dewhurst winners; prominent, travelled fluently, challenged 2f out, led briefly entering final 1f, kept on but no match for winner; his pedigree says more sprinter than miler but he saw this extra furlong out well enough at this early stage of his career to at least think it feasible he may prove effective over 1m as a 3-y-o.

didn't look quite so well as at the Curragh, getting increasingly warm and wasn't quite able to match his National Stakes rating despite finishing placed in another Group 1 and, typical of a Galileo, his future looks sure to be back over at least 1m and probably further next year; chased leader, led over 2f out, headed entering final 1f, one paced, needs the emphasis more on stamina; he has been kept busy and it's not out of the question that he'll get his chance back up in trip in the Futurity at Doncaster in a couple of weeks.

was taking a big step up into a hot Dewhurst and found it all a bit too much too soon, his relative inexperience showing in the final third of the race, but the involvement at this level should only bring him on; in touch, travelled well, switched over 2f out, not quicken over 1f out, left behind, not unduly punished; physically he'll develop a lot into his 3-y-o season, with a big frame to fill, and he remains a colt with lots of potential.

has been progressing but faced a stiff task in this grade and ran about as well as entitled to, matching his listed-winning form but not having the class to land a serious blow; held up, pushed along 3f out, outpaced 2f out, kept on; he appreciated stepping up to 1m last time and will benefit from a return to that trip.

is better than this, nothing wrong with his form in Ireland, and perhaps the ground was firmer than ideal, although his main role seemed to be as pacemaker anyway; made running, headed over 2f out, weakened.

The pre-eminent race for juveniles in Britain and even without the notable absentees, Quorto and Ten Sovereigns, this was a strong Dewhurst, featuring in Too Darn Hot and Anthony Van Dyck 2 colts that had already reached the 120s on ratings, joined by the hitherto unbeaten Sangarius, a Group 1 winner already in Advertise and recent Royal Lodge winner Mohawk; with a trio of Galileos from Ballydoyle in the field it's not surprising that operation were keen to avoid a muddling race and Christmas pressed on, setting a sound pace that made for a fair test, the result on the day very solid as there was nothing in the way of trouble in-running to report either.

TOO DARN HOT from day one has looked Champion 2-y-o material, mindful from the outset of his outstanding credentials on pedigree, and he completed the perfect season with the best Dewhurst performance since the legendary Frankel in 2010, beating a strong field with authority despite things not going as smoothly as they might have through the race, taking a keen hold early as Dettori sought cover, and then when switched out entering the Dip he briefly looked in trouble, feeling the whip and edging left, perhaps just a sign of immaturity, also getting accustomed to the undulations, on ground that was firmer than he'd encountered before, but after that brief moment of vulnerability - underlined by an in-running price on Betfair that hit a high of 8.0 - he flew through the final 1f to take up the running and forge clear impressively; his rating sits in advance of the standard required to win a typical 2000 Guineas, so even in a stellar crop, he sets the bar very high, and there's an expectation that his form will continue to accelerate, especially back at 1m next spring, no quibbling with his position as clear favourite for 2019's first classic, but there'd be more doubt as to whether beyond that he'll develop into a Derby horse, admittedly from a family of middle-distance performers but clearly a fast colt, not the biggest either, and he's already breaking the family mould by showing such speed and precocity; whatever his optimum trip proves to be, though, he has vast talent and is a fantastically exciting prospect.

ADVERTISE had been rather overlooked in the build up despite already having a Group 1 in the bag, testament to the strength of the race, but close to the off there was money for him and he improved his form further 8 weeks on from the Phoenix, unfortunate to be around in such a stellar year as his rating is as good as some Dewhurst winners; prominent, travelled fluently, challenged 2f out, led briefly entering final 1f, kept on but no match for winner; his pedigree says more sprinter than miler but he saw this extra furlong out well enough at this early stage of his career to at least think it feasible he may prove effective over 1m as a 3-y-o.
