after 7 months off over 1f shorter trip, proved better than ever, successful now on 4 of 5 starts, clearly worth another shot at listed company; close up, pushed along 3f out, led briefly over 2f out, chased leader final 1f, rallied to lead again final 50 yds; open to further improvement and will continue to give a good account.

strong in the betting, over 1f longer trip, ran up to his best, just denied by another unexposed one; in touch, travelled strongly, quickened to lead 2f out, edged left over 1f out, headed final 50 yds; found less than seemed likely but really caught the eye with how he went through the race, and open to further improvement, probably back at 1m.

shaped encouragingly after 5 months off (since an unpromising hurdling debut), this shorter trip looking a bare minimum, without the blinkers he'd worn on his final 2 starts last year as well, this likely to put him spot on for a campaign in top-grade handicaps; held up, pushed along over 3f out, kept on well over 1f out, took third well inside final 1f.

back up in trip, failed to meet expectations, possibly stretched by the extra 1f, not nearly so strong in the finish as when he had won at 1m; waited with, took keen hold, effort over 2f out, effort flattened out final 1f; remains with potential.

The pair that had had fewest chances came out on top in a 3-y-o+ handicap with no 3-y-os, the pair worth viewing positively, even if the overall form may not prove to be that strong for the grade.
