ended last season under a bit of a cloud after progressing rapidly through the handicap ranks but a winter break has obviously done him the world of good and he was more than back on track, better than ever after 8 months off to record a first pattern success; in touch, travelled well, close up 2f out, led inside final 1f and forged clear; he's still lightly raced, having just his seventh start here, and this could be a stepping stone to even bigger and better things this season.

had close to optimum conditions and ran well after 6 months off, enough to suggest he's returned as good as he was last season, led, went with enthusiasm, joined over 1f out, no extra final 100 yds; he's consistent and will continue to be competitive at this sort of level.

isn't the force that he was, understandable at 8 having had a lot of racing, but he's holding his form well enough at present; held up, ridden when switched over 2f out, ran on without threatening the first 2.

stepped up on comeback run, still not back to very best but getting there, and he is the sort that thrives on racing and a busy schedule; pressed leader, took keen hold, pushed along over 2f out, kept on.

ran about as well as could have been expected upped in grade after good third in the Lincoln last time, clearly in good heart right now, but placing him to win isn't going to be easy; mid-division, headway under pressure over 1f out, kept on.

A cracking renewal of the Earl of Sefton and it looks solid Group 3 form, a duel emerging between the pair at the head of the market, both of whom are on the fringe of competing at the very top level; the pace was nothing special but conditions made for a decent test at the trip.

MAHSOOB ended last season under a bit of a cloud after progressing rapidly through the handicap ranks but a winter break has obviously done him the world of good and he was more than back on track, better than ever after 8 months off to record a first pattern success; in touch, travelled well, close up 2f out, led inside final 1f and forged clear; he's still lightly raced, having just his seventh start here, and this could be a stepping stone to even bigger and better things this season.
