An up-to-par renewal of this Group 3 contest at the very least, the winner well capable of cutting it at a higher level, the runner-up successful in this event in 2013, whilst a couple further back shaped well with a view to another day too, notably Es Que Love and That Is The Spirit; the field raced middle-to-far side on the whole, the pair who stayed towards the stands rail - Rocky Ground and Highland Colori - both left with no chance the way things panned out.

MUSIC MASTER has come a long way in a relatively short time since having his attentions turned to sprinting and this win underlines the impression made last time, that he isn't far off the best around in this discipline, taking full advantage of this drop in grade to record a cosy success; mid-field, typically travelled well, still waited with behind wall of horses as other principals pressed on over 1f out, quickened smartly final 1f to cut back rivals close home, confidently ridden and had fair bit more in hand than the bare margins suggest; acquitted himself with plenty of credit on his only previous attempt in Group 1 company and well worth aiming at the Nunthorpe, his run-style suggesting 5f should present no problems.

HEERAAT (IRE) won the corresponding event last year and, after a couple of disappointing efforts this spring, returned from a short break back at the top of his game, losing no caste in defeat against a very smart rival; waited with, good headway 2f out, challenged 1f out, kept on well to overhaul eventual third close home, but had no answer to winner's finishing burst; may have lost his way after winning this in 2013, but overall record as a 4-y-o was consistent enough so he should continue to give a good account provided his sights aren't set too high.

ES QUE LOVE (IRE) ran a stormer with the cheekpieces left off, the way he went through the race proposing another try back at 5f, unexposed at that specialist trip and certainly giving the impression it will suit on this occasion; close up, tanked along, led over 1f out and looked likeliest winner (traded odds on in-running), collared close home; has done well for the change of yard/drop to sprinting this year and could yet have more to offer, possibly now only growing into his substantial frame.

NAADIRR (IRE) wasn't disgraced, but this combination of a higher grade and being kept to 6f proved a bridge too far; mid-field, every chance 2f out, again took a while to hit full stride, kept on final 1f after principals had flown; career still in its infancy so every chance he could get back on the upgrade, worth persevering with at this level.

THAT IS THE SPIRIT wasted no time getting back on track, the Jersey perhaps just coming too soon in his development, as this performance certainly points to him making a bigger impact at this level another day; made running, went with zest, headed over 1f out, no extra final 1f; had no problems with the 1f shorter trip, and remains a smart prospect, his career just 4 months old after all.

ROCKY GROUND (IRE) without the usual hood, wasn't seen to best effect and did about as well as could be expected in the circumstances, one of only 2 who raced stands side; tracked Highland Colori, passed that rival over 2f out, never able to get on terms with main group, didn't get enough of a tow into the race to be competitive.

HALLELUJAH took a step forward from her reappearance 8 weeks on, possibly just paying the price late on for racing up with a contested pace tackling pattern company for the first time; raced prominently, pushed along 3f out, no extra final 1f.

RIVELLINO found run of good form coming to an end without any obvious excuses; held up, headway before halfway, every chance 2f out, faded; nothing wrong with previous form this year and type to bounce back soon.

AHTOUG hasn't had many goes beyond the minimum trip and this effort shows why, patently failing to stay; mid-field, travelled well, went handy soon after halfway, weakened over 1f out; did enough to suggest he remains in reasonable heart, so should be back to showing smart form next time.

COMPLICATE (AUS) went backwards from recent Haydock outing, this a disappointing display; close up, driven over 2f out, faded; not the easiest to evaluate after this.

TRADER JACK ran about as well as could be expected in the face of a stiff task; slowly away, always behind.

HIGHLAND COLORI (IRE) hasn't been firing on all cylinders so far this season but this effort is easily ignored; led 2-runner group on stand side (in touch overall), struggling halfway, soon beaten.
