easily followed up last year's victory in the race after 7 months off, albeit helped by her main danger breaking down; made all, jumped well in main (again showed a tendency to go right at times), travelled well, ridden from 3 out, stayed on well; a mare that thrives on racing, she will continue to be hard to beat, with an attempt at a third Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse in December now likely to be firmly on the agenda.

back down in trip, ran creditably after 7 months off; in touch, not fluent fourth, crept closer early final circuit, ridden from 2 out, kept on, no impression on winner.

back over hurdles, shaped as if retaining all ability after 7 months off; soon steadied, effort entering straight, kept on from 2 out; a lightly-raced sort, there's still an aura of untapped potential about him, particularly at staying trips.

somewhat surprisingly reported to be kept over hurdles this season, shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests after 7 months and will almost certainly come on for the run, though his Grade 1 penalty isn't going to make things easy for him; close up, challenged from 3 out, not fluent 2 out, weakened approaching last, not unduly punished.

was fatally injured; held up, took closer order from 5 out, challenged 3 out, in share of second when broke down badly after 2 out; a 2-time Grade 1 winner over hurdles and a Grade 2 winner over fences, he will perhaps best be remembered for his scintillating success in the Stayers Hurdle (Liverpool) at Aintree in 2017/18.

All 6 ran. Hurdles: 11.

Winning Owner: Gigginstown House Stud

Time: 4m 50.1s Closing Sectional: (2.8f): 38.4s (105.8%)

Overrounds: Industry SP 113%, Betfair SP 101.3%

All 6 runners could boast Grade 1 wins in some form or fashion, though that was a misrepresentation of where some of them are currently in their careers and, with the favourite’s main rival going wrong, it’s highly unlikely that Apple’s Jade bettered anything she’d done previously in landing the race for the second year in succession, even when doing so with such ease.

APPLE'S JADE (FR) easily followed up last year's victory in the race after 7 months off, albeit helped by her main danger breaking down; made all, jumped well in main (again showed a tendency to go right at times), travelled well, ridden from 3 out, stayed on well; a mare that thrives on racing, she will continue to be hard to beat, with an attempt at a third Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse in December now likely to be firmly on the agenda.
