brushed aside an 11-month absence having had a setback early in the season to maintain his unbeaten record over fences in trademark style, still hard to know quite how good he is, still about 8 lengths up approaching the last before getting a touch tired/Doctor Phoenix finished strongly; made all, jumped accurately (was slightly low 2 out, that the only brief moment of concern), travelled powerfully, pressed on entering straight, looked in control 3 out, still clear approaching last, shaken up run-in as runner-up closed but always holding on; may yet do better and a clash with some of the top 2-milers around at Punchestown would be something to savour.

backed up recent improvement but was up against a different calibre of horse here in Great Field, set a lot to do though probably flattered a touch in finishing so close, the winner seemingly having the race sewn up some way out before tiring a little on his return; waited with, jumped right third, not fluent seventh, still plenty to do 3 out, kept on well from next, nearest at the finish; will continue to run well in similar events, already a great advertisement for the talents of his trainer.

with the cheekpieces quickly discarded, wasn't in the same form as last time, beaten further by Doctor Phoenix despite being on 7 lb better terms; chased leader, pushed along 3 out, kept on though no match for principals.

A race primarily about the return of Great Field, the third-highest rated novice chaser from last season on Timeform ratings, and he didn't disappoint, value for much more than the bare winning margin having set a sound gallop.

GREAT FIELD (FR) brushed aside an 11-month absence having had a setback early in the season to maintain his unbeaten record over fences in trademark style, still hard to know quite how good he is, still about 8 lengths up approaching the last before getting a touch tired/Doctor Phoenix finished strongly; made all, jumped accurately (was slightly low 2 out, that the only brief moment of concern), travelled powerfully, pressed on entering straight, looked in control 3 out, still clear approaching last, shaken up run-in as runner-up closed but always holding on; may yet do better and a clash with some of the top 2-milers around at Punchestown would be something to savour.

ALISIER D'IRLANDE (FR) with the cheekpieces quickly discarded, wasn't in the same form as last time, beaten further by Doctor Phoenix despite being on 7 lb better terms; chased leader, pushed along 3 out, kept on though no match for principals.

KILCARRY BRIDGE (IRE) was out of his depth; soon steadied, never dangerous, simply running on late for fourth.

TELL US MORE (IRE) continues out of sorts; mid-field, untidy first, held when slow last, tied up.

AMERICAN TOM (FR) continues below form, a change in tactics not making any difference here, not up to this level in any case; patiently ridden, untidy fourth, not fluent seventh, 3 out, never on terms.
