UNFORTUNATELY (IRE) back down in trip, had been set some stiff tasks this season, but bounced back to something akin to his very best to get off the mark for the campaign and belatedly confirm himself as good as a 3-y-o as he was juvenile; dwelt, in rear, ridden over 2f out, stayed on to lead near line; connections suggested he may now head to the British Champions Sprint at Ascot next month.

ST PATRICK'S DAY (USA) hasn't lived up to his reputation this season, though showed that all is not yet lost, producing his best effort to date and showing enough pace to suggest he can be a genuine force to be reckoned with at Group level should connections continue down the sprinting route; led, went with enthusiasm, kicked on 2f out, kept on well, but collared near line.

ST BRELADES BAY (IRE) ran well upped in grade, showing more than enough to suggest he's worth persevering with at this sort of level on home soil; chased leader, ridden 2f out, every chance entering final 1f, kept on.

GORDON LORD BYRON (IRE) who's being kept busy, ran better than last time, though was still some way below his best, his big effort at York last month coupled with an unremitting schedule possibly having taken the edge off him of late; soon steadied, ridden 2f out, one paced.

AMTHAAL faced a stiff task in this grade, but ran just about her best race, briefly threatening to crash the places approaching the final 1f; waited with, effort over 1f out, one paced.

FAS (IRE) ran one of lesser races, his finishing effort leaving plenty to be desired; prominent, travelled well, challenged over 1f out, found little.
