was back in headgear, fitter for his comeback run no doubt as well, and justified support to take advantage of a drop in the weights; pressed leader, went on ninth, edged out 2 out, led again last, responded well, did better under a change of tactics; he may well stick to hurdling for now and will remain well treated on his best form, a Grade 2 winner in this sphere as a novice of course.

A steadily-run affair, underlined by both a fairly bunched finish and fast finishing sectional, so there's some reason to be cautious about the form for all that the principals had all either slipped in the weights or are relatively unexposed.

TAP NIGHT (USA) was back in headgear, fitter for his comeback run no doubt as well, and justified support to take advantage of a drop in the weights; pressed leader, went on ninth, edged out 2 out, led again last, responded well, did better under a change of tactics; he may well stick to hurdling for now and will remain well treated on his best form, a Grade 2 winner in this sphere as a novice of course.

MOUNTAIN FIGHTER had no problem with the 1f longer trip or the softer ground than he'd encountered previously, running easily his best race since switching to handicaps, back under professional handling which possibly helped; tracked pace, travelled well, led 2 out, headed last, one paced.

DONNA'S PRIDE making handicap debut, didn't look on an obviously lenient mark but shaped well after 8 months off; dropped out, travelled smoothly, headway 3 out, keeping on when bad mistake last, finished with running left; she is from a good family and may do better still this term.

MAKBULLET proved that he retains ability, having hinted at it last time, and the longer trip possibly stretched him in the end (best around 2m); waited with, travelled well, headway before 3 out, bumped there, every chance 2 out, faltered run-in.

SILVER SHUFFLE (IRE) back in headgear, wasn't disgraced but isn't consistent and remains a maiden in this sphere for a reason; held up, crept closer 4 out, chased leaders after 3 out, no extra run-in.

COOKING FAT took a small step back in the right direction; mid-division, outpaced after 4 out, kept on after 2 out; he isn't going through races with the zest he was and is worth a try in headgear.

LANDECKER (IRE) back over hurdles and in first-time visor, ran better than he had on his return but still finished well beaten and is generally opposable; raced wide, early reminders, close up second, led sixth, headed 4 out, weakened next.

GINGILI who'd won all 4 previous starts under Rules, attracted support but shaped as if needing the run on first outing since leaving Donald McCain after 7 months off; mid-division, close up 3 out, weakened next; he should stay at least 19f and is worth another chance (opening mark looks fair).

BRIGHT PROSPECT (IRE) might have needed run on first outing since leaving Miss Elizabeth Doyle after 4 months off but has been handed a stiff-looking mark; tracked pace, not settle fully, weakened 3 out.

JONNY DELTA who has regressed on the Flat this year (last ran 3 months ago), was well held on this belated return to hurdling; held up, crept closer sixth, weakened after 3 out, not unduly punished.

APACHEE PRINCE (IRE) was well held after 4 months off; led until sixth, no extra 3 out, eased.
