making handicap debut, was suited by the longer trip and progressed a chunk to bring up a hat-trick; made all, travelled fluently, untidy third, drew clear from 3 out, mistake last, won easily; his profile is all positive and he's sure to go well again.

returned to form, staying the longer trip but just not looking all that well treated; chased leader, pushed along home turn, one paced.

took a step back in the right direction back from 9 weeks off, albeit making fairly hard work of it; mid-division, not fluent sixth, shaken up after, lost place when ridden 4 out, plodded on; at least the handicapper has given her a chance.

was all the rage in the betting under Johnson but disappointed faced with more testing ground after 9 weeks off, in trouble early enough to think that lack of stamina for the longer trip wasn't the main problem; held up, headway after 4 out, pushed along home turn, no further impression.

without headgear this time, shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on first outing since leaving Jonjo O'Neill after 13 weeks off, lack of fitness and/or stamina, not to mention very testing ground, explaining why he didn't see the race out after travelling second best; mid-division, in touch 4 out, third home turn, shaken up early in straight, weakened.

The front-running winner is progressing well and had enough in hand that he'd have been up to winning a more competitive handicap than this one turned out; the pace was fair enough.

ARCTIC GOLD (IRE) making handicap debut, was suited by the longer trip and progressed a chunk to bring up a hat-trick; made all, travelled fluently, untidy third, drew clear from 3 out, mistake last, won easily; his profile is all positive and he's sure to go well again.

CRAZY JACK (IRE) returned to form, staying the longer trip but just not looking all that well treated; chased leader, pushed along home turn, one paced.

FLORAL SPINNER took a step back in the right direction back from 9 weeks off, albeit making fairly hard work of it; mid-division, not fluent sixth, shaken up after, lost place when ridden 4 out, plodded on; at least the handicapper has given her a chance.

L'AIGLE ROYAL (GER) was all the rage in the betting under Johnson but disappointed faced with more testing ground after 9 weeks off, in trouble early enough to think that lack of stamina for the longer trip wasn't the main problem; held up, headway after 4 out, pushed along home turn, no further impression.
