A handicap in which most of the field are exposed and/or failed to fire, but it did at least go to one who is better than ever.

MYKONOS ST JOHN under a penalty after just 6 days off, improved again to follow up, a class above these rivals; in touch, switched over 2f out, headway soon after, stayed on to lead close home; will be forced into better races from now on, but could have more to come and should continue to give a good account.

PRINCE ROCK (IRE) back under a fully-fledged rider and back at a track where he's recorded all his wins, ran up to best, beaten only by one a notch better than this level; handy, produced to lead over 1f out, headed close home.

YUFTEN ran creditably back in handicap company but showed why he's without a win since 2019; slowly into stride, in rear, raced indolently, late headway.

AZETS ridden by an inexperienced jockey, shaped as if still in good form, receiving minimal assistance from the saddle; close up, raced wide, went on 3f out, rider dropped reins over 2f out, headed over 1f out, no extra.

ZULU GIRL back on all-weather, went backwards from reappearance; disputed lead, headed 3f out, not quicken straight.

BLACK MEDICK without usual cheekpieces, underperformed; in rear, went with little fluency, never a threat.

MILLICENT again ran below form; mid-field, not quicken.

NELSON'S HILL fared no better; disputed lead, weakened from 3f out.

ALBADR (USA) was strong in the betting but everything went wrong for him on first outing for 5 months/since leaving Roger Ingram; very slowly away (blindfold removed late), in rear, ridden over 2f out, not quicken, reportedly bled.

MR MAC was let down by attitude; slowly into stride, in rear, raced lazily, never a threat.
