ran at least as well as last time, underlining his toughness turned out little over a week after that gruelling race; patiently ridden, steady headway back straight, chased leader from 4 out, challenged from 3 out, stayed on, held final 50 yds; he's still a maiden but has sufficiently strong form for the level to see him win soon.

A trademark low-grade handicap chase at this track in which far more ran badly than well, though it was 3 of the potentially well-treated ones who came clear, nothing else in it as they approached the straight after the winner had upped the pace before 4 out.

GENERAL GIRLING bounced back to form, benefiting from the step back up in trip; soon led, joined tenth, untidy next, went on again thirteenth, tackled again 3 out, responded well.

FOR CARMEL (IRE) ran at least as well as last time, underlining his toughness turned out little over a week after that gruelling race; patiently ridden, steady headway back straight, chased leader from 4 out, challenged from 3 out, stayed on, held final 50 yds; he's still a maiden but has sufficiently strong form for the level to see him win soon.

BURGESS DREAM (IRE) back over fences, confirmed his return to better form, leaving the impression he should have been right there with the front pair; mid-division, travelled smoothly, crept closer back straight, close up when steadied into 3 out and 2 out and lost ground, rallied well final 50 yds, finished with running left without being unduly punished; he's ready to capitalise on his tumbling mark.

KINGS CROSS (FR) merely underlined inconsistency; raced off the pace, awkward twelfth, labouring after, plodded on, merely passed beaten horses.
