This is unlikely to prove strong form; the front 3 were all ridden some way off the early pace, As de Fer and Si C'Etait Vrai taking each other on, which helped neither's cause, Cody Wyoming seeing off the challenge of the weak-finishing Wings of Smoke in the latter stages.

CODY WYOMING produced just about a career-best effort to get off the mark for the season, though this wasn't a strong race and his future prospects will depend on how the handicapper reacts to this wide-margin victory; travelled well in mid-field, went second approaching home turn, led soon after 3 out, not fluent next, drew clear run-in.

WINGS OF SMOKE (IRE) not for the first time promised more than he delivered; dropped out, crept closer from halfway, went third entering straight, loomed up 2 out, left behind by winner run-in; hard to win with.

CARLOSWAYBACK (IRE) last seen in points, produced a laboured effort; held up, jumped none too fluently, went in snatches, headway into mid-field halfway, plugged on straight.

CAFE DE PARIS (FR) with the blinkers usually worn in France refitted, ran to only a modest level, in doing so matching his recent hurdles form; raced wide, tracked pace, went on ninth, joined 3 out, ridden when headed before next, faded.

AS DE FER (FR) was without the cheekpieces this time and turned in a lacklustre display after 8 months off; prominent (led early), reminders after eighth, lost place before next, beaten when untidy 2 out.

SI C'ETAIT VRAI (FR) again well backed, was ridden positively, but proved to be a disappointment; led second, slight mistake eighth, headed next, driven before 3 out, weakened next.

ROCKY BENDER (IRE) wasn't on a going day after 7 months off; mid-division, typically not fluent, looked none too keen, lost place before halfway, reminders approaching seventh, tailed off next.
