An up-to-scratch but not fully representative field lined up for this Group 1, with the Henry Candy-trained pair Twilight Son and Limato 2 notable absentees, the former not even declared and the latter withdrawn on the day on account of rain-softened ground, though even at the top of their game that pair might've struggled to live with Quiet Reflection, who won with a level of authority not often seen at this level, even taking into account that testing conditions seemed to find out some of her rivals; the pace was good and it made for a pretty good test at the trip, slightly favouring those that that were waited with.

QUIET REFLECTION produced her best effort to date as she added a second Group 1 to her portfolio, her overall record now standing at 7 wins from 9 starts, and she'll have good prospects of adding to that before the season is out, clearly one of the leading contenders for the Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot in October, even though the opposition there will be tougher still if the likes of Mecca's Angel, Limato and Twilight Son turn up; mid-division, travelled strongly, headway 2f out, led approaching final 1f, driven clear.

THE TIN MAN ran about as well as he ever has, conditions no problem, and might've made even more of a race of it with the winner had he got out the stalls quicker, notwithstanding that the run of the race favoured those coming from behind; dwelt, in rear, good headway out wide over 1f out, stuck to task.

SUEDOIS (FR) remains in good form and deserves a bit of credit for sticking in there having been in the firing line throughout; prominent, every chance over 1f out, one paced; this was his fourth Group 1 outing in a row, but he'd have no trouble winning a pattern race if with his sights set a little lower.

MEHRONISSA acquited herself pretty well taking a steep rise in grade, never far away and going down fighting; in touch, travelled well, effort over 1f out, no extra inside final 1f.

MR LUPTON (IRE) shaped as if still in good form, ridden to pick up the pieces against tiring rivals, though likely to have finished a bit closer still had he been asked for full effort sooner; bumped start, dropped out, effort over 1f out, never nearer.

JANE'S MEMORY (IRE) ran well faced with a stiff task back from 9 weeks off, more so considering she was always up with the pace and wide on the track, potentially still with a better effort in her locker granted a less demanding scenario; prominent, every chance over 1f out, faded.

ONLY MINE (IRE) shaped as if in good form faced with a stiff task back from 3 months off, running nearly as well as could've been expected; close up, every chance over 1f out, effort flattened out.

STRATH BURN seemingly flattered when second in this race last season, again ran below form; held up, ridden over 2f out, made no impression.

DANCING STAR seemed unsuited by conditions and is well worth another chance at pattern level having been so impressive in everything she'd done previously this season; prominent, ridden over 2f out, weakened.

KACHY found 6f on testing ground all too much having forced a strong gallop and shaped much better than the bare result, definitely in better form than his finishing position might suggest; made running, went with zest, headed over 1f out, weakened.

DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT (IRE) proved to be a disappointment under conditions that shouldn't have posed him any problems (always behind).

GOKEN (FR) on soft ground for the first time in a while, ran poorly; always behind.

GORDON LORD BYRON (IRE) has a good record in this race but seemingly isn't the force of old for either form or consistency and was never any better than mid-field.

MAGICAL MEMORY (IRE) ran no sort of race, leaving the impression he wasn't effective under the conditions, acknowledging a soft-ground win at Newmarket on his reappearance; in touch, soon off bridle, beaten 2f out.
