stepped up on reappearance run and resumed winning ways in decisive fashion, getting first run on the runner-up to some extent, but undoubtedly well on top of that rival at the finish, reportedly providing his handler with his 2000th career winner in the process; close up, travelled well, went on approaching 2f out, in command entering final 1f, kept on well, comfortably; a very smart performer on his day, he will reportedly now head for another crack at the Melbourne Cup and, while he clearly goes there in top form, it's worth bearing in mind that he appeared not to stay when down the field in the 2015 renewal.

under a penalty, ran creditably back down in grade, though never threatened to lay a glove on the winner, albeit having conceded first run to that rival when things got serious 2f out; held up, ridden from 3f out, ran on, no impression on winner; should remain competitive at this sort of level.

strong in the betting, failed to meet expectations at this course for the second time this season (had previously won on his first 3 visits here), not going with the same verve that characterised his recent victory at Doncaster, the possibility he found the race coming too soon after just 14 days off a plausible if unconvincing excuse; dwelt, soon steadied, ridden from 3f out, one paced.

back up in trip, ran below form, possibly unsuited by having to make her own running on this occasion, though she's not up to this level; led until approaching 2f out (took strong hold), weakened approaching final 1f.

The odds-on favourite wasn’t at his best, but that shouldn’t detract from what was essentially an impressive performance from the lightly-raced Sky Hunter, who settled things in a matter of strides in the straight.

SKY HUNTER stepped up on reappearance run and resumed winning ways in decisive fashion, getting first run on the runner-up to some extent, but undoubtedly well on top of that rival at the finish, reportedly providing his handler with his 2000th career winner in the process; close up, travelled well, went on approaching 2f out, in command entering final 1f, kept on well, comfortably; a very smart performer on his day, he will reportedly now head for another crack at the Melbourne Cup and, while he clearly goes there in top form, it's worth bearing in mind that he appeared not to stay when down the field in the 2015 renewal.
