has been beaten only by a couple of similarly unexposed 3-y-os on his last 6 starts, though one of those defeats was partly self inflicted and he nearly threw this away as well, that a concern, for all that he found plenty once straightened out and is clearly is still well ahead of the handicapper; held up, travelled well, smooth headway under 3f out, challenged 2f out, ridden over 1f out and veered badly left, rallied to lead final 50 yds, going away at finish; open to further improvement and will clearly relish the extra stamina test that the Cesarewitch provides.

ran as well as he has all year, albeit able to dictate in a small field and possibly a shade flattered by his proximity following the winner's antics; led, shaken up over 3f out, joined over 1f out, stayed on, headed final 50 yds.

ran creditably, confirming the improvement he's shown of late, doing enough to suggest with the way he moved into contention that there may even be a better performance in him still; handy, not settle fully, smooth progress over 3f out, ridden 2f out, carried left over 1f out, not quicken.

ran respectably, given a test that was barely enough of a test of stamina for him; tracked pace, shaken up 4f out, one paced.

again in cheekpieces, seemed to run respectably, though was labouring a fair way out and again with few excuses; waited with, pushed along 4f out, made no impression.

A useful handicap, albeit with a small field, the winner a fair bit ahead of his mark still but nearly throwing the race away, the remainder more exposed but coming into the race in some sort of form and all running at least respectably.

ST MICHEL has been beaten only by a couple of similarly unexposed 3-y-os on his last 6 starts, though one of those defeats was partly self inflicted and he nearly threw this away as well, that a concern, for all that he found plenty once straightened out and is clearly is still well ahead of the handicapper; held up, travelled well, smooth headway under 3f out, challenged 2f out, ridden over 1f out and veered badly left, rallied to lead final 50 yds, going away at finish; open to further improvement and will clearly relish the extra stamina test that the Cesarewitch provides.

ORIENTAL FOX (GER) ran as well as he has all year, albeit able to dictate in a small field and possibly a shade flattered by his proximity following the winner's antics; led, shaken up over 3f out, joined over 1f out, stayed on, headed final 50 yds.

ARTY CAMPBELL (IRE) ran creditably, confirming the improvement he's shown of late, doing enough to suggest with the way he moved into contention that there may even be a better performance in him still; handy, not settle fully, smooth progress over 3f out, ridden 2f out, carried left over 1f out, not quicken.

PERCY VEER ran respectably, given a test that was barely enough of a test of stamina for him; tracked pace, shaken up 4f out, one paced.

GANG WARFARE again in cheekpieces, seemed to run respectably, though was labouring a fair way out and again with few excuses; waited with, pushed along 4f out, made no impression.
