A slow pace led to a heaped finish, meaning it's hard to enthuse about this bare form, though the first 2 filled those positions in spite of the run of things and remain with potential for a good bit better yet granted a truer test.

OBSERVATIONAL was suited by the longer trip and got off the mark, probably not needing to improve on form that already set the standard but doing well under the circumstances, winning despite the run of the race, the test barely adequate; close up, outpaced 3f out, switched 2f out, rallied entering final 1f, found plenty to lead final 50 yds; will be suited by 1½m+, remains open to improvement and looks sure to make an impact in pattern company before long.

MARZOCCO (USA) shaped well again, the longer trip in his favour, more so than he could show on the day having been disadvantaged by the way things took shape; held up, ridden 3f out, headway under pressure entering final 1f, finished well, just failed; will stay 1½m+, remains open to improvement and sure to go well again.

SIGNPOSTED (IRE) ran well without clear-cut excuses, having the run of things from the front and quite possibly flattered; dictated, not settle fully, pushed along over 2f out, headed well inside final 1f, no extra near line.

BARLEY MOW (IRE) shaped better than the bare result under a penalty, barely seeming to stay the longer trip on softer ground than previously, his win at this level the time before essentially about speed; in touch, travelled best, shaken up 2f out, upsides entering final 1f, no extra near finish; likely to prove best up to 11f, at least when conditions are testing.

SNOW TROUBLE (USA) on softer ground than previously, ran poorly in first-time cheekpieces and tongue strap, maybe resenting the new combination of equipment, though it may just be he's going the wrong way temperamentally; slowly into stride, not keen in rear (early reminders), brief headway 3f out, soon beaten; something to prove next time.
