had made an inauspicious start to his season having reverted to sprinting, but in these calmer waters, got his career back on track in first-time cheekpieces; disputed lead, edged ahead 2f out, wandered, driven out; wasn't doing a lot in front and looks well worth persevering with in headgear, Group races back on the agenda from now on, fast ground essential to him.

back on turf and without his usual headgear, shaped encouragingly after 4 months off, running right up to his best; in touch, not settle fully, ridden when had to squeeze through a gap 1f out, edged left, stayed on; has his quirks (ponied to the start), but is admirably consistent in listed/low-grade pattern company and is one to be interested in for a similar event.

continues to knock on the door at this sort of level, attracting support and running well once more, simply beaten by 2 superior rivals on the day; waited with, headway 1f out, stayed on; seems sure to go well again.

bumped into subsequent Diamond Jubilee runner-up Due Diligence on his previous start and again ran creditably, likely to have finished a length or so closer had he not met interference near the finish; chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, not quicken and looked held when hampered final 100 yds.

without a tongue strap this time, confirmed impressions from Naas 2 starts back, unlikely to reach the heights he scaled in 2012 but building up to a bigger performance than he could display here; held up, pushed along over 2f out, had to pick way through, kept on final 1f, never landed a blow; not one to write off.

A useful renewal of this listed race, the front pair both proven at a higher level and saddled with penalties accordingly, Jamesie providing good substance to the result back in third.
