after 7 months off, proved at least as good as ever to go one better than in this last season, though surely didn't need to improve in a soft race and his handicap form remains the best guide to his merit (could struggle if his mark goes up); led early, chased leader after 1f, led again over 2f out, drew clear approaching final 1f, eased 2 lengths late on.

probably ran a bit better than he had been doing in Dubai but this wasn't much of a race and he'll remain one to oppose in anything halfway competitive; soon led, headed over 2f out, left behind by winner quickly, plugged into second again final 1f.

after 4 months off, failed to meet expectations, maybe in need of the run more than the market suggested, though it wasn't really an effort full of positives for the season ahead; held up, headway 3f out, edged left, left behind by winner from 2f out, weakened inside final 1f, not knocked about.

A race with the right ingredients to make for iffy form, including but not limited to an early-season date, a small field, an 8-y-o winner who was apparently better than ever, and less-than-convincing efforts from the second and third.

SAIGON CITY after 7 months off, proved at least as good as ever to go one better than in this last season, though surely didn't need to improve in a soft race and his handicap form remains the best guide to his merit (could struggle if his mark goes up); led early, chased leader after 1f, led again over 2f out, drew clear approaching final 1f, eased 2 lengths late on.
