Fairly useful efforts from the front 2 but the other pair right in the market didn't seem to show their form; the pace was steady, things taking shape only early in the straight.

GUERLAIN DE VAUX (FR) followed up from Market Rasen to make it 2-2 over hurdles, getting the job done rather than anything flashier, the last flight arguably crucial in swinging it his way; led until second, remained prominent, pushed along straight, stayed on to lead soon after more fluent than Gredin last, closed down again near finish but still very much at home over longer trip.

GREDIN (FR) backed up hurdling debut promise at the second attempt, seeming suited by the longer trip, a wobble late on perhaps costing him a second win; soon led, kicked on straight, still couple of lengths clear when untidy last, headed soon after, rallied, just failed.

BEST TRITION (IRE) failed to meet expectations, though it's likely he would have benefited from a stronger gallop under his conditional, worst placed of the 4 with a chance; waited with, outpaced approaching straight, merely plugged on.

STARSKY (IRE) shaped better than last time but only to a point in a much weaker race; close up until 2 out, carried head bit awkwardly, no response before last.

SIR JIM (IRE) unplaced in a couple of bumpers in late-2020, offered little sent hurdling after 13 months off; waited with, not settle fully, pushed along back straight, struggling 3 out.

ISLA DIAMONDS has made a discouraging start to her hurdling career; raced off the pace, jumped tentatively, never going well from halfway, tailed off when pulled up early final circuit.
