fitter for comeback, opened account in this sphere with an effort not far removed from the pick of his hurdles form, unlike at Uttoxeter finding plenty off the bridle to fend off the useful runner-up; chased leader, jumped well, led under pressure 2 out, stayed on well; he may do better still as a chaser and won't be out of place back in a graded novice.

a useful novice hurdler last season (won first 2 starts before being pulled up in graded company in January), shaped well sent chasing after 9 months off, making a smart rival pull out all the stops, and looks sure to prove even better in this sphere; made running, jumped well in main, went with enthusiasm, ridden when headed 2 out, kept on.

fairly useful over hurdles, albeit a bit underwhelming on his last handful of starts, has the physique for chasing and should learn from this initial experience, also likely to come on for the run fitness-wise having been off for 6 months; mid-division, not always fluent, left behind 5 out.

a fair maiden over hurdles, is very much the type to make a chaser but didn't have much going for him on these terms and was given a considerate introduction back from 7 months off; held up, jumped fine but never involved; he can be expected to do much better in handicap company next time.
held up, never dangerous

It's well worth taking a positive view of the first 2, both of whom are above-average over hurdles and created a positive impression in a race run at a good pace despite the small field.
