Ran well 8 months on from making the frame in the Melrose when second of 6 at Doncaster (1½m, good to firm) last month, the shorter trip not looking quite as suitable for him. Upped markedly in distance and could prove a tough nut to crack in first-time cheekpieces if coping with the softer ground.

Has raised his game since cheekpieces went on, finally opening his account after several near misses at Southwell (1¾m) in April. Doubled his tally when edging another tight finish in 6-runner event at Ripon (2m, good to firm) 5 days ago and escapes a penalty here.

Confirmed himself a thorough stayer when winning 5-runner handicap at this track (2¼m, soft) back in October, lacking a change of gear having looked likely to win even more convincingly. Tailed off in the mud at Nottingham later that month and off since. Each-way claims.

Useful at his best but hasn't scored in this sphere since December 2023. Didn't really impress with the way he went through the race but at least stuck at it when third of 6 to Trojan Soldier at Ripon (2m, good to firm) 5 days ago. Will probably find a couple too good.

Course winner last spring but has seemingly had his enthusiasm dented by a spell chasing, fifth of 7 at Ripon (2m, good) just under 4 weeks ago. Very much a stayer these days but others look stronger from marginally out of the weights. Cheekpieces reapplied.

On a going day when fifth in competitive handicap at Galway Festival on stable debut last summer but hit-and miss under both codes since, merely passing beaten rivals when tenth of 18 in Chester Plate earlier in the month. Probably best left alone for now (has a suspect attitude).

Chase winner for new yard at Southwell in November but was always behind making his first Flat start for connections after 4 months off at Doncaster recently. Significantly back up in trip but tough to enthuse over.
