is finishing his second season over fences on a high, confirming the improvement shown at Fairyhouse last time to turn around form from earlier in the season with the runner-up, but his overall profile would suggest that he will struggle to add to this success if kept to the highest level; he jumped well out of this ground, loomed up to challenge between the last 2 and found plenty after going out to his left at the last.

kept the mistakes to a minimum and put up the sort of performance that would have seen him go close in the Grand Annual with a clear round, given a cool ride, covering the move of the runner-up when not fluent 2 out, and ridden out to get the better of that rival after going left at the last; the 2m novice division looks particularly weak in Ireland this season and he's likely to look a feasible candidate for the Grade 1 over that trip at Punchestown.

is putting the experience he gained last season to good use and confirmed himself a useful chaser, travelling strongly before challenging 2 out and finding enough after hanging left between the last 2; he reportedly has the Drinmore as his aim, but it's hard to see him winning Grade 1s, and some of those behind him here could eventually progress past him.

made no mistake faced with a straightforward task on his first run for over 7 months, always prominent and still on a tight rein with his only remaining rival covered when left clear at the last; he was outjumped at the last 2 fences before the straight and will make more appeal in handicaps than graded novices, looking held when brought down 2 out in the Drinmore last season.

looked to have this race in safe keeping when coming down 2 out and will have little difficulty making amends in a similar contest; he travelled/jumped well behind the leaders, went on with a good jump 4 out and was still on the bridle when knuckling over a stride after 2 out having jumped the fence perfectly well; he was useful in bumpers/hurdles last season, is likely to prove best at up to 2½m and acts on heavy ground.
