Flat Trainer: Keith Dalgleish
Three Keith Dalgleish winners over the past fortnight have produced career-best performances, including a pair of three-year-olds on the Flat, Tough Remedy and Ray Purchase. The former looks the one to follow, having improved plenty on his handicap debut last time – a profitable all-weather campaign awaits. Dalgleish has a raft of entries on Tuesday, including Starplex who looked all at sea at Southwell last time, and who could bounce back now on a more conventional surface.
Meanwhile, back at Southwell, Jack Blane ran creditably switched to fibresand last time, while newcomer Good Boy Alfie is one to watch for market support. Perhaps of more interest is Zoravan who is proven at the track and there were some small green shoots at the track on Thursday, despite being a big drifter before the off. He’s a C&D winner and is starting to look well-handicapped. Dalgleish also has his jumps horses in good form (see table below) and any market support for Hardrock Davis on his stable debut at Ayr on Wednesday should be noted.

Under The Radar: Henry Daly

Punters have had a good time of things with Henry Daly-trained runners of late (see table above - £43.25 level stakes profit for 2017/18 season), with recent winners including the well-backed Back To The Thatch at Chepstow. He improved for stepping back up in trip and looks a young stayer going places. Similarly, Crucial Role put up the stable’s best performance of the season on ratings when winning at Ludlow earlier this month. He’s been beaten since under a penalty, but is still of interest next time.
Head To The Stars won at Leicester in late-2016, and has an entry back at the track on Wednesday. He won well at Wincanton last time, appearing to benefit from the drop back in trip, and has a big chance from a 5 lb higher mark. The claims may not be as obvious for Go West Young Man, who races in the same ownership, however he is at least well handicapped now after a series of lacklustre efforts.
Jumps Trainer: Olly Murphy
Such is the gusto that Olly Murphy has started his training career, recoding a four-timer within months of saddling a runner, that not too much has been made of his recent good spell which included another four-timer at Fakenham last Monday. Aside from those who won, the placed horse Flow With Eve impressed – she would surely have won with a better jump at the last and looks just the sort her trainer will excel with.
Weebill produced a promising first effort over hurdles at Market Rasen last month; he has a couple of entries at Plumpton on Monday and will likely be a leading contender in either. Saucysioux races in the Olly Murphy Racing Club colours, a group that will have many happy members at the moment due to a hat-trick of wins for the horse at the end of 2017. She’s been given a break, and will need to improve again to defy a 13 lb higher mark, but has a talented conditional jockey booked.
