Flat Trainer: Alan King
Clearly, Alan King’s jumps runners are often the main focus, however the Barbary Castle trainer has had his Flat string in good form of late (shown below), including career-best performances from Outofthequestion (Yarmouth) and Beringer (Newmarket), both in defeat. The latter, especially, looks one to follow as his stamina is drawn out.

The majority of King’s entries over the next few days are over jumps, however the dual-purpose performer Giveaway Glance is entered at Windsor on Monday. She returned to the Flat as good as ever when third at Yarmouth last time, especially considering a stronger gallop would have seen her to even better effect. Parmenter is in at Nottingham 48 hours later and is bred to improve for the step up in trip, though she will need to settle better than when only fourth at Doncaster last time.
Jumps Trainer: Caroline Bailey
Her last winner may have been at the end of April (Malapie at Towcester), but Caroline Bailey’s horses have nearly all performed with credit since (as shown in the graphic below), including Global Domination and McCabe Creek who both produced career-best (or very close) efforts when second at Southwell recently.

Warrior Prince was sent off at 40/1 when well held on his debut at Huntingdon last time, but should be capable of better in time as he showed some fair form on the Flat for Ed Dunlop. Warrior Prince is related to winners in this sphere so isn’t one to discount just yet, though this looks a competitive event. The Captain is entered in the same maiden hurdle and has shown more in his three starts for the yard. He may not be seen to best effect until entering handicaps but is one to keep an eye on. Bailey’s best chance of a winner over the next few days is with Crosspark on Sunday. He won off a mark of 132 in February 2017 and is now able to race off 5 lb lower; any rain would help his chance.
Under The Radar: Tony Carroll
Tony Carroll has his horses, both on the level (shown below) and over jumps, in good form at present, with recent wins for Oeil de Tigre and River Dart backed up by a series of solid placed efforts, most notably River Rule who ran well when a half-length second at Brighton last time and who looks well handicapped. She is entered at the same venue on Tuesday and – from the same mark – looks sure to go well.

Carroll has several entries at Windsor on Monday afternoon, with Bring Us Paradise entered in what could be a hot maiden. However, he is a half-brother to Lostinparadise who was a juvenile winner in France so could surprise a few; the market should help guide to his chance. Lone Voice makes his stable debut in the finale, having shown little in three starts for Ken Condon in Ireland last season. Those three runs all came on soft ground however and it would be no surprise to see the son of Poet’s Voice improve now encountering a better surface. Falcon Cliffs, Wedgewood Wonder and Wiley Post are Carroll’s other Windsor runners, with the latter – a recent C&D winner – most likely to run well.
